Yamaha DM1000v2 Joining SystemSource

We are pleased to announce the upcoming addition of a Yamaha DM1000v2 digital mixer to our SystemSource inventory. Our new DM1000 will be configured with a meter bridge and an additional 16 channels of analogue inputs bringing the total I/O count to 40×16. Trainings and loans will start on the DM1000 early this fall.

Beta Test Our Intelligent Lighting Curriculum

We are currently planning to release a limited number of copies of our new intelligent lighting curriculum to interested parties this June when it is completed. We will be looking for your feedback before we release a final version in August. Beta testers will recieve a free print copy of the student edition which we will ask you to annotate with your feedback and return. You will also recieve a free print copy of the final curriculum which incorporates your feedback. Please email me at matthewhaber@metti.org to express your interest in participating.

Curriculum Version 3 is Now Available

We have completed our routine update process for our intro to lighting curriculum and it is now available as a free download here. If you are currently using version 1 or 2 we strongly encourage you to switch to the newest version. If you have purchased a printed copy of the student or teacher editions in an earlier version please contact us for a free set of inserts that will update it to match the version 3 content. Since the teacher’s edition is three-ring bound you will be able to directly replace the pages for a seamless update.

You may notice that version 3 does not contain the rigging theory section that was found in the first to versions. This removal was the result of a lengthy discussion and was not taken lightly. In the end, we determined that by including this section we ran a risk of creating a false impression that rigging could be undertaken by students without further training. Additionally, we determined that this section’s inclusion could present a legal liability to METTI. If you are interested in exposing your students to training in rigging safety and technique we encourage you to contact us and we would be more than happy to point you in the direction of a local qualified professional.
